A discussion with a 5th grade student of mine made me think. We were talking about reading and why we read and what got us to read.

As a kid I liked to read. Casual little stuff here or there. But when I look back, there is definitely that one defining moment where I went from liking to read here or there to loving to read for fun. And the book that started that was Goosebumps #19: Deep Trouble by R.L. Stine. I loved the story and writing style and couldnt put it down. This book made me look up the other Goosebumps books and through that series I became someone who loved to read. I owe a lot to this series.

It makes me smile when I am walking around my classroom and I see that my students are still reading Goosebumps. It's cool to see that the series is surviving and that a new generation is enjoying them. Above all its nice to see the students enjoying to read. Goosebumps is helping them like it helped me.

with a lot of fantastic mini lines said throughout the ep.
Though this is a hard pressed 4. Almost got a 3.5.

Hey everyone. So I did watch Vampires of Venice and will watch the new ep coming Saturday. My PC is at the computer doctor and that is where my DW eps and reviews are. So at the moment there is a small delay in my getting my reviews posted. As soon as I get my comp back (with all of my files intact I hope) I will get those reviews up for everyone.

Just found out that I passed the NYS Literacy CST! YAY!!! I'm moments away from being a certified reading specialist. Neat. lol.

I walk in graduation ceremonies at the Collesium on June 1st and then have two classes (1 week long each) in the summer session that are done by July and I am all set and done.

How exciting!

The new series of Doctor Who has brought us the new Dalek Paradigm. A more colorful look for daleks that is a nod to the Peter Cushing films. Just about everything has been beefed up on these new Daleks. Their new look is definitely intimidating. In the Episode 'Victory of the Daleks' we hear Supreme saying their names/dalek roles. Which are which has been revealed. Red= Drone, Orange= Scientist, White= Supreme, Blue= Strategist, Yellow= Eternal. Most noticeable is the yellow dalek (Eternal) who unlike the others has black hemispheres on its body instead of silver. Steven Moffat says during the Doctor Who Confidential that the exact role of Eternal has not yet been decided.

The Doctor standing off with the new Dalek paradigm.

So twp friends of mine (Kim and Sean) and I enjoy playing the Wii game Dokapon Kingdom. The game is a hybrid board game and RPG with a few different modes. Its a fun game that is quite addictive and depending how you set it it can be quite long. The game progresses through 'weeks' in the game and you actually play through the 7 days of the week. A 20 week game usually takes several hours with three players.

Well in order to reach the highest character levels and explore the entire world of the game tonight we decided to start a 999 week campaign. The longest you can set it for. It'll most likely take us a few months or....A LOT of months to complete. lol. We played the first 4 weeks today and will continue to play a little more whenever we all have free time.

Let the fun begin.

So this morning I wake up and look at the clock and see that it is 6:00 and I instantly get up thinking that it is 6PM and I am already late for class. I can hear my mom in the kitchen and I think she is making dinner. I get up quick and realize that I cannot remember doing ANYTHING all day today. I just cant remember Thursday. Im still in pajamas so now I think that I literally slept through the day. I look at my cell and watch to check that it is Thursday and not Wednesday and yup…still Thursday. I get up quick and start throwing clothes on and get onto my netbook to get my class work off of it and begin so go downstairs when I hear my mom yell to me, “You’re up early.” And it hits me… WTF, its only 6 AM! Of course now I am wide awake so I play a lil DS and about 15 minutes later sleep catches up and I pass out for another hour. Ugh. What a weird morning.
