Teacher Moments :p

So last week I started having really scary teacher moments (lol). Let me explain. I had subbed a few times in the Middle School and ran into a bunch of my students whom I taught last year when I had my 5th grade leave replacement and that was really nice to see them again. But then I started teaching within those days the students whom I had when I was a student teacher in 5th grade...who are now in 8th grade!! Then I subbed for a 4th grade class that funny enough had 11 students in it that I student taught when they were in 1st grade!!

It was just so weird to see my old students that much older. A real teacher moment for sure, lol! But it was cool getting to catch up a bit with the middle school kids since I dont see them often. I see the elementary kids often enough but this was the first time I taught them in mass this year. lol.

Masters Semester Coming To An End

So the semester is comig to end and that can usually only mean one thing...hell. lol. Yesterday I finished my Case Study for my Culturally Diverse Learners class. I had been tutoring a struggling reader for the last 2 months and administering different tests and stuff so I have to write up all background info, findings, recommendations, ect. Makes me feel like a real Reading Specialist, lol, which is what my Masters is for. At least this one was a little simpler than the intense one I did last semester.

Now to go along with the Case Study I need to create a 10-15 minute presentation to present to my professor and class. A powerpoint as well for the presentation. This is due Tuesday. Yuck.

Also, for my Advanced Research Methods class, I need to create an original research idea and create a complete mock study as though we are really administering the study in the field. This paper is at least a lil shorter but still has a lot that needs to go into it. This is due by Thursday with a small 5 minute presentation.

Wish me luck!

Star Wars In Concert!

The other night, November 21st, Star Wars In Concert was held at the Nassau Coliseum. I attended the 8:30pm showing and had such an AMAZING time. Wow. Around the Coliseum were actual props, costumes, ect used in the 6 movies. Most of these props it was said were leaving the Skywalker Ranch for the first time! The actual show was movie photage from all 6 movies put together into segments that really portrayed the different character storylines and really emphasized the music through the scenes choosen. Anthony Daniels (C-3PO) was on hand narrating the entire show which was fantastic. The music was performed by the Royal London Philharmonic and Choir!! They sounded absolutely breath taking. As someone who has played in a symphony myself, I was in complete awe. Such a great show. I took a bunch of pics and actually filmed the entire thing on my Flip. Its about 1.5 of video (near a gig in file size). If you'd like to see it, let me know.

ALL my pictures can be seen in my flickr. Be sure to comment the pics you like :)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157622871921724/

Teaser Pics:

SEE ALL THE PICS IN MY FLICKR :)
Harry Potter: The Exhibition

Harry Potter: The Exhibition opened in the Boston Museum of Science on October 25th and I was there on opening day. I attended with my HP group from NY; The Group That Shall Not Be Named (TGTSNBN - aka: HP-NYC) and HP-MA had also joined us at the exhibit. It was truly amazing and I was completely in awe at how amazing these costumes and props from the movies where. And the crazy amount of detail that they have...WOW. I wont say who but many of us broke the rules about pictures and video (lol) and I put together a small lil video of the exhibit. I think the video came out fun :)

Teaser pics from vid ;)

In the Pics/Video I'm the one in the Gryffindor Quidditch Robes :)
ALL Pics can be seen in my Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157622671040594/

<lj-embed id="29" />
Doctor Who: The Story of Martha

I always wondered how she got around and what exactly she told the people. And then I ran across this book... 'Doctor Who: The Story of Martha'. It tells the story that takes place in the finale of Season 3 when Martha Jones walked the Earth for a year spreading the word of the Doctor and hiding from the Toclafane (The Sound of Drums / Last of the Timelords). AND it tells us unheard of adventures that she had with the Doctor that she told to inspire people around the globe. NICE! This is one my list of 'Must Reads'!

1st Tutoring Session of Semester

Quick Entry:

Sitting in the library getting ready to administer my first tutoring session on this semester. Currently working with a 5th grade struggling reader as a part of my Masters. Ive met her once before and the client seems like a fun person so these sessions should be fun. Im gonna try not to bore her too much with reading tests from my Masters course. ha. Hope things go well.

Okay - back to getting things ready.

Zombie Crawl & LotR @ Radio City!

So the weekend of the 9th was an absolute blast. Started out on Friday with a good work day teaching 3rd graders. Followed by a horde of Zombies and then LotR with a live orchestra!!!

Then got home and changed and headed into the city with Sean and Kim for a Zombie Crawl through Union Square and then all over the city. They were dressed as Pirate Zombies. I had sewed my own cosplay for this event to go along with TGTSNBN. My HP group went as dead versions of Harry Potter characters. So I created and sewed together a ‘Inferi Cedric’ cosplay that was his 3rd Task uniform from the Triwizard Tournament. (*Inferi are the re-animated dead in the HP series.) It came out great and I had my make-up done once I got to Union Square. Make-up was done kind of rushed as there was like 300-400 zombies getting make up done and stuff. It was funny traveling down there with some of the looks I got. Ha ha.

Once everyone’s makeup was done the crawl began and it was a blast. Bunch of great photographers were there as well. It was great walking around and seeing everyone’s reactions to the horde of zombies wondering around. Walking up to shop and restaurant windows and scaring people as a horde of zombies crowd the front window. Ha. Some people were excited to see us taking pics and stuff and others just looked confused beyond anything. After the amazing crawl we kept the crawl going all the way to a movie theater where we filled a theater to see Zombieland. This movie was absolutely hilarious and I loved Bill Murray’s cameo. I recommend seeing this movie if you haven’t yet. After that we went over to a pub for some drinks and then everyone headed out.

Saturday morning was just me relaxing and such and then again I headed off for the city to meet up with Jax to go to Radio City Music Hall. Radio City was showing The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring on a large screen while they had a live orchestra and chorus perform Howard Shores score live as the movie played. And Howard Shore was there himself which was cool. I loved watching the movie on the big screen again but sitting there and listening to a live orchestra/chorus perform the score during it was amazing. Having played in bands and groups and a symphony myself I have a love of that stuff and I found myself watching them just as much as the movie. It was incredible how they made certain scenes feel new and more emotional. Hearing the trumpets and drums as the attacks began or when they showed Isenguard, or the chorus singing for the elves. It was brilliant. Oh man, it was just such an incredible night. Such a great weekend.

MANY More Photos on my Flickr:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/

We were featured on Gothamist:
http://gothamist.com/2009/10/10/zombies_in_our_midst_again.php

There was another site that featured us but I cant find it at the moment :p

Zombie Horde

@ Radio City

Vocal solo-ist.
My Birthday Weekend

My bday weekend:

I must say that I really enjoyed my bday weekend. I spent time with my gf, saw a lot of great friends and had an amazing party. Even got to attend a medieval festival. Hell yea.

Friday:

Friday I had a dual bday party in NYC at Hurley’s Saloon with my friend Liz whose bday is this coming Wednesday. I had a good mix of friends there from my core friends at home, my friends from TGTSNBN, and my best friend from college, Henry, was able to attend as well. We had a good mix of music playing throughout the party and the weather was nice enough wear we got to spend a good portion of the party outside on the 3rd floor patio which was beautiful. The food was delicious and the drinks were great. And the staff that I had for my party were very friendly and great. Id highly recommend this place for parties/random get togethers or just to stop by for a drink. I was extremely happy with the turnout that I had and was so happy to hangout with everyone. On to the cakes! Liz had made this awesome cake of a wolf’s head to symbolize Tonk’s patronus from the Harry Potter series. It looked awesome and tasted great. It was a pumpkin flavored cake. And my friend Jenn had made me this amazing cake that looked like the TARDIS from Doctor Who. Im talking about a free standing TARDIS cake that was about a foot high and 6 inches across square about. I took some great photos of it and me by it. This cake blew me away. She did a perfect job making a TARDIS out of cake/fondant. It was a yummy rainbow vanilla cake. I got some awesome cards and gifts as well. THANK YOU to those who got me either, it was extremely nice of you. Overall the party was extremely fun and filled with friends, dancing, singing, and yummy food and great conversation.

Saturday:

I stayed in the city Friday night and came home to do a few things and drop things off. Got home about 2 o’clock. Went fabric shopping with my friend, Kim. Then later that evening left to go back into the city to see a Wrock show (Wizard Rock). It was a pretty good lineup though I didn’t get to see some of the opening groups unfortunately. But I caught the last half and had a great time. Again seeing great friends, buying a CD (Vashta Nerada) and a wand from the HPA. So another night filled with friends, music, and dancing. After the wrock show we went to Odessa diner (as tradtion after wrock shows at the Sidewalk Café) and hung out there for a bit. At this point I also received my new netbook from my friend Jon who I bought it from. YAY – thank you. Erratic001. After that I headed back to Jax’s to spend the night there.

Sunday (MY BDAY):

Woke up and got ready to head over to Fort Tryon (near The Cloisters) in NYC. They were holding their Medieval Festival and this was the first time that I would be attending this particular festival. Got dressed in my Ren Garb and headed out with Jax and her brother Lou. Train ride up there wasn’t too bad. Just under an hour. The festival is smaller than that of the NY Renaissance Faire but larger than the Sands Point Medieval Festival. Again I met up with all my TGTSNBN friends and I had a great time. Got to see the joust and walk around to the shops. Bought a cool pendant of the Valknut (Norse mythology). Even saw some familiar faces from the NY Ren Faire and some people that I know from home. And I got some awesome photos of everyone by the castle and cannot wait to see some of the shots that the others got of individuals and the group. Then caught a train home at 5pm. Got home and sat down for a bit and spoke to my parents and got a few awesome gifts from them. After that I went out to Fatty Beltbuckles (BBQ Bar/Restaurant where some friends work) and hung out with Sean and Joe while they were on their shifts. Had an awesome birthday shot too (Mind-Eraser). Normally we head out to Hooters for my bday but they were working so we will do that later this week.

Overall, my bday weekend was absolutely fantastic. Thank you to everyone who made it special. And thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday! You guys rock.

Six Flags & Jon Lajoie

Had a pretty good weekend filled with rollercoasters and comedy!

Friday was spent driving into Brooklyn and picking up a few friends and then off to Six Flags Great Adventure! There was about 20 of us at one point. Some left early and whatnot. Big group - great time. The altered Medusa - now Bizzaro - was actually really fun. Ride is the same which I always liked but they added the sheild tunnel and flame bursts and next to every seat are speakers that play movie audio clips throughout the whole ride. Clips taken from various movies that make it seem like there was really a Superman Bizzaro movie. The rest of the day was filled with delicious lemonade, Dippin Dots and great times with great friends. and great coasters!!

Its a bright photo but i still love it.

Rest of the pics I took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157621929928166/

I did a bunch of great stuff over the weekend but lets jump to Sunday night.

Sunday I went in the city and went to Caroline's comedy club in Times Square and saw Jon Lajoie. He is most notable for his hilarious internet videos. He was great live and non-stop laughter ensued. Good times. Some of his great songs include 'Show me Your Genitals', 'high as fuck', and 'everyday normal guy'.

John Lajoie

<lj-embed id="24" />
Getting to walk ON Citi Field!

So last Sunday I went to the Mets game with my friend Ariel. We met up with two of her friends who had gotten us the tickets (apparently down the first baseline which is really cool) and they were def good people. & we all got free Mr. Met shirts which is cool. Tho they didnt want to wait out the rain so they headed out and Ariel and myself stuck around. First, Citi Field is definitely a pretty stadium. Its really nice in there and I like that you can see the field where ever you are. So cool. So Ariel and I are relaxing and sitting against the wall outside the Delta 360 Sky Club area (which is the fancy million dollar seat area, lol) and This woman comes out and motions for this guy and his son to come over and I hear her talking about going to the field and something about a pitch. And she gives them yellow wrist bands. Then asks the guy 'Is there anyone else with you today?' and the guy looks over and points to me and Ariel sitting there and says 'Yea, those two.' & He motions for us to come with him. Hell, who am I to argue...ADVENTURE! So we get up and get our own yellow bands and so thank you to the guy. Apparently he is a Owner of Subway and his son was throwing the first pitch. So the woman leads us out ONTO CITI FIELD and I was so excited that my hands were shaking, lol! It was sooo nice down there. So we were on the field for the Mets taking the field and the first pitch and stuff which was SO much fun. But THEN the guy gave us his two extra seats that were directly behind home plate, second row right on the isle. HOLY CRAP! So we thank him immensely (lol) and the seats were beyond incredible! And the cooler thing is that we were on tv for every single pitch of the game!!! SWEEET!

So my first time to Citi Field and I get to go down and walk on it AND get AMAZING seats and be on tv. OMG it was awesome!

To the left, second row, Grey/Black shirt

Video of us down on Citi Field!!
<lj-embed id="23" />

Canadian Invasion Recap!

So I have been a lil crazy busy and haven’t been able to update in a bit. So let me begin.

My road trip into Canada was beyond amazing. I had such a fantastic time up there for the week I was there. Myself and three best friends went up to Montreal, Toronto, and Niagra Falls. 2 days in each city.

Quote of the road trip up: “What are YOU doing in Canada??” lmao
Montreal:
I really must say that Montreal is a beautiful city. I was seriously blown away. Still has the old classic feeling to it with the cobblestone roads and whatnot. Kind of awesome that everything was in French. I got to see, by luck, the opening day of a two day International Soccer round robin tournament. Got to sit and watch two short lengthed games; Canada vs Mexico & USA vs Peru!! This was by far amazing. I did so much cheering and yelling I lost my voice for the next 2 hours or so. Ha. It was set up like an indoor field but outside. So grass with boards. Definitely a fun time. Then, also by luck, the International Jazz Festival that alternates between Montreal and Amsterdam was in Montreal that night and we got to see Stevie Wonder perform which was AMAZING. Then a crazy awesome pirate warehouse maze, awesome beers, Mt. Royale, the Bell Center…Montreal was a blast.

Great Stevie Wonder quote: “I love Montreal and would move here and learn French since everything is in French. But its not like I would read the signs…” LOL

Toronto:
Toronto was a lot of fun. More urban and just a huge city. The CN tower was really cool going all the way to the top and sitting on that glass floor looking down. BIG highlight in Toronto was the Hockey Hall of Fame. Like a lil kid in a candy store in that place. Getting to see the original real Stanley Cup and the current cup that they had displayed. See the amazing jerseys of countless mind blowing players. And then doing the goalie and shooting challenges they had set up was so much fun. Also being in the broadcaster booth was really cool. Producing and editing the camera angles to real plays. I made a really awesome edit that I wish I could have gotten a copy of, lol. Got some cool souveniors from the Hall including a Charlestown Chiefs jersey (Slapshot) and Joe and Sean got one too so we want to maybe be the Hanson brothers for Halloween. Look up ‘Hanson brothers Slapshot’ on youtube to see who they are, lol. Walked around the city and saw some really cool stuff. Went to the Toronto Zoo which wasn’t small but smaller than the Bronx Zoo definitely. But they had fantastic animals there and about 98% were all out and about. It was great. And we got to see Macaque there! LOL. (*Now the best inside joke ever)

Niagra Falls:
The Canadian side to Niagra falls is like Vegas but family style and on crack! *See pics to know what I mean. Lol. They had Little Ceasars pizza there so of COURSE we had to get that for lunch as our first meal. Man do I miss that place. And their crazy awesome bread sticks. We saw the Niagra whirlpool and then did the “River Walk” which was so cool getting to walk along the Niagra River and seeing the Class 6 (out of 6) rapids. We of course went on the Maid of the Mist and that was simply mind blowing. Getting to be that close to the falls, both American and Canadian, was amazing. Id love to go back and do some of the cave walks inside the falls. We ate at the rainforest café which was fun and played crazy blacklight cosmic golf. It was a lil weird being in Canada for the 4th of July but it was okay bc we were practically surrounded by American tourists anyway. Lol. They shot amazing fireworks for the 4th of July over the falls, it was really pretty. That night we got all dressed up and hit up the casino. That was def a fun time. I wound up being down not by too much by the end of the night. Then got a really nice dinner after. The next morning we drove back down to LI and the trip was ‘bullshit’! Lots of traffic and crazy Garmin directions, lol. But we made it in one piece.

This was a trip that I will def remember and I loved it so much. This was a summed up post but the point gets across.

Flickr:

Montreal:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157621481056997/

Toronto:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157621607526846/

Niagra Falls:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/32005256@N03/sets/72157621620288030/

Wii - 'The Conduit' Friend Code

So I went out and bought 'The Conduit' for Wii. And I actually got the Special Edition which comes with an exclusive concept art book and some neat in-game extras.

About the game - holy crap. Its great!! Easily the best 1st person shooter game on the Wii. And now Nintendo finally has a shooter that can go online for up to 12 players.
Below is my Friend Code to play online.

The Last Airbender Teaser Trailer!

M. Night Shyamalan's "The Last Airbender" Teaser Trailer!
Sweeeet!!

<lj-embed id="22" />

Its too short to judge the movie as a whole. But from the teaser, it looks awesome. Things are much more subtle which makes them realistic. Zuko's scar isnt this horrific red gash across his eye, but its there. Subtle but there. (see pics) The airbending was done perfectly, I think. The Fire Navy literally made me say 'oh crap' so thats a success in my book. From the guys hanging off the ropes on the cliff to the boats and fireballs being launched from them - good job.
Still to early to call, but the teaser is a success to me.

Pince Zuko

Aang

Tapping - XKCD

Today I shall start the day by sharing a comic that shows a situation I have been in too many times. But it always entertains the hell out of me for that particular moment. LOL
